Trip Itinerary
Day 1 :
Welcome to Oslo, Norway!
After making your own way to the hotel, you will check in. The hotel is located in between Oslo Central Station and Aker Brygge, with Karl Johans Gate and the Norwegian Parliament Building just around the corner. Enjoy delicious food and drinks among countless cafes and restaurants and experience a large selection of exclusive boutiques. We will meet later this evening for a Welcome Reception with appetizers and cocktails to meet the rest of the Happy Travelers and Happy Ambassador!

Day 2 :
City Tour and Munch Museum
After breakfast at the hotel, we will have a city tour with a local guide and coach (approximately 3 hours) of Oslo. Your tour of Oslo will begin in the city’s centre, where you’ll see the Parliament building, the National Theatre, the new Opera House, and the Royal Residence. You’ll also see the City Hall where the Nobel Peace Prize is presented each year.
Next, you’ll proceed to the Vigeland Sculpture Park where the work of Norway’s famous sculptor, Gustav Vigeland, is on display. The sculpture park is Gustav Vigeland’s life work, comprising over 200 sculptures in granite, bronze and wrought iron. It was installed mainly in the period 1940-1949, but is nevertheless a result of over 40 years of work.
After the tour, we have entrance tickets to explore the Munch Museum. A brand new museum by Oslo’s waterfront, tailor-made for the worlds largest collection of art by Edvard Munch. The new MUNCH is the number one destination for experiencing Edvard Munch’s life and art. Visitors to the new museum will always be able to experience the highlights of Edvard Munch’s artistic career, alongside changing exhibitions of works by other artists.
After your time at the museum, you will have the afternoon free to explore on your own.
Note: you will need to bring your large luggage to the hotel reception this evening to have a luggage service bring it to the Bergen Hotel on Day 5.

Day 3 :
Enjoy Travel from Oslo to to Myrdal Via Flåm Railway
Today we get to travel on the gorgeous Flåm Railway! We will be transported from the hotel to the Oslo Rail station by bus. We will take two trains today. The first is from Oslo to Myrdal. On the train ride between Oslo and Myrdal, we come across Finse, the highest station on the line we are at 1222m. Once over the top and heading downhill the climate changes astonishingly. Myrdal is clearly on the maritime coast of Norway, milder and damper than what’s come before.
Then we will take another train from Myrdal to Flåm. The Flåm Railway is one of Norway’s major and most spectacular tourist attractions. On the 20 km-long train ride, you can see rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains and mountain farms clinging dizzily to sheer slopes. The train makes a photo stop at the beautiful Kjosfossen waterfall.
Upon reaching Flam, we have a short walk to the Flåmsbrygga Hotel. This hotel is located directly on the fjord an staying here is an extraordinary experience. The hotel also has its own brewery so it will be nice in the evening to enjoy a couple of locally produced beers in a special viking building.

Day 4 :
Fjord Safari and Viking Dinner
After breakfast at the hotel, we embark on an extended Fjord Safari! Join us on this soft adventure by RIB-boat and experience the Aurlandsfjord and the whole UNESCO listed Nærøyfjord in only 2hours 15 minutes. We will provide you with floatation suit, life vest, hat, gloves, and goggles.
Enjoy a hiking trip to Brekkefossen waterfall. Start from Flåm town centre on an asphalt road up the valley alongside the Flåm river, the trail opens up on a grassy ledge, offering beautiful views of the area. A total of 5 km in length (return to Flåm center). Total climb in elevation about 155 m.
Tonight, we have an amazing Viking Plank dinner! We will get to taste 5 different plates accompanied by 5 different beers.

Day 5 :
Travel to Bergen by Ferry and Train!
This morning we leave Flåm and start our journey to Bergen. We will take a ferry from Flåm to Gudvangen. Once we reach Gudvangen, we will take a coach to Voss. Here you can relax for a short time and enjoy the beautiful nature and waterfalls along the ride. Once we reach Voss, we will take a train to Bergen.
We will take a short walk from the Bergen rail station to our hotel (2 minutes). Your large luggage will be waiting for you at reception. This evening, you will have free time to get dinner on your own.

Day 6 :
Tour Bergen
This morning we will have a walking tour of Bergen with a local guide. On this walk, we will show you old and new parts of the city. We will show you the modern landmarks and the old wooden town, the broad streets and the narrow alleyways. The Fortress, St. Mary’s Church and the Fish Market, the beautiful City Park and the Theatre are some of the sights you will see. We will take a closer look at the old Wharf which is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Here you will hear about the operations of the Hanseatic League in Bergen. We also pass statues of famous Norwegians such as Henrik Ibsen and Edvard Grieg, and you will get an overview of their interesting lives and work. A walk in Bergen is the ideal way of taking in the Bergen atmosphere. The city centre is compact and full of attractions, and the city’s highlights and colourful history are presented to you as we walk at a leisurely pace.
After the tour, you will have the afternoon to explore on your own!

Day 7 :
Fjord Cruise to Mostraumen
Today, we will take a beautiful cruise from Bergen to Mostraumen! On the round-trip cruise from Bergen in spectacular fjord scenery. This fantastic tour takes you up the 27-kilometer long Osterfjord. Underway, the fjord narrows between steep mountains as the captain brings you safely through the powerful currents of the shallow and narrow Mostraumen strait. The boat sails right up to the waterfall where you can feel the spray of mountain water before turning back and returning to Bergen through the magnificent landscape.
Later, we will return to Bergen for you to enjoy dinner on your own.

Day 8 :
Goodbye!
After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and make your own way to the airport.

Terms and Conditions
Group Trip Cancellations.
If YCSMH has to cancel a group trip because a country has closed its borders, everyone will have a choice of receiving a refund or being rolled over to another group trip. The decision to cancel a group trip will be determined by myself and our local guides.
DEPOSITS PAID- CANCEL WITH NO REPLACEMENT
If you cancel a booking and cannot find a replacement the FULL deposit amount will be lost from the original person making the reservation.
DEPOSITS PAID- CANCEL WITH A REPLACEMENT – $100 Penalty
If YOU cancel and find your own replacement that “helps” but it doesn’t alleviate the time and effort I must spend to get your replacement up to speed (answer questions and send previous emails). A $100 fee will be charged if you cancel and find your own replacement.
FULL PAYMENTS PAID- CANCEL WITH NO REPLACEMENT- 90 DAYS BEFORE TRIP DEPARTURE
Full payments for all Happy trips are due 90 days before departure. If you cancel the trip you will not be eligible to receive a refund. You will need to file a claim with your insurance provider. As a rule most tour vendors, charter companies and hotels require full payment 90 days before arrival. Once we have made reservations MOST resorts, Charter companies, rental shops, etc hold YCSMH financially responsible (i.e. we have to pay them, hence we expect YOU to pay us).

FULL PAYMENTS PAID- CANCEL WITH A REPLACEMENT- 90 DAYS BEFORE TRIP DEPARTURE
In the event of a cancellation, YCSMH will gladly help find a replacement but the responsibility to find the replacement is that of the person canceling. If you find a replacement to fill your spot you will be eligible for a full refund minus a $100 fee.
If YCSMH finds you a replacement you will receive a refund minus the trip deposit. As I mentioned there is a considerable amount of time and effort spent to send out emails to your replacement to get them up to speed.
