Whether you are a solo traveler, a couple, family or group, we welcome you! Please, no divas, egos, or complainers. Yes, you might see bugs, yes, things don’t always go as planned, but YES your trip will be awesome! Many of our happy travelers are airline employees, innovators, entrepreneurs, and others just figuring it out. We are solo traveler friendly and don’t charge excessive single supplement rates. We are proud to say that many our solo travelers meet fellow solos and become travel buddies!
What is your cancellation and transfer policy?
Group Trip Cancellations
If YCSMH has to cancels a group trip, everyone will have a choice of receiving a refund or being rolled over to another group trip. The decision to cancel a group trip will be determined by the YCSMH owner and our local guides.
Deposits Paid- Cancel With No Replacement
If you cancel a booking and cannot find a replacement, the FULL deposit amount will be forfeited by the payee.
Deposits paid- Cancel With a Replacement – $100 Penalty
If YOU cancel and find your own replacement that “helps” but it doesn’t alleviate the time and effort YCSMH must spend to get your replacement up to speed.(answer questions and send previous emails). A $100 fee will be charged if you cancel and find your own replacement.
FULL Payments Paid- Cancel With No Replacement- 90 Days Before Trip Departure
Full payments for all Happy trips are due 90 days before departure. If you cancel the trip you will not be eligible to receive a refund. You will need to file a claim with your insurance provider. As a rule, our tour vendors, charter companies and hotels require full payment 90 days before arrival. Once we have made reservations MOST resorts, charter companies, rental shops, etc. hold YCSMH financially responsible (i.e. we have to pay them, hence we expect you to pay us).
Full Payments Paid- Cancel With a Replacement- 90 Days Before Trip Departure
In the event of a cancellation, YCSMH will gladly help find a replacement but the responsibility to find the replacement is that of the person cancelling. If you find a replacement to fill your spot you will be eligible for a full refund minus a $100 fee. If YCSMH finds you a replacement you will receive a refund minus the trip deposit. As I mentioned there is a considerable amount of time and effort spent to send out emails to your replacement to get them up to speed.
What are your deposit & refund policies?
You can reserve your seat on any group trip with a $500 deposit. Private trips require a minimum deposit of $1,000. After the deposit has been paid, the remaining balance is due 90 days before departure. Failure to pay your trip balance on time will result in the loss of your deposit and seat on the trip.
Who books my flights?
You are responsible for booking your flights. Arriving and departing flights are never included in our prices. Each trip will show the nearest airports and suggested routes. We will provide flight booking instructions detailing the dates you should arrive and depart. Each trip has different flight booking instructions so feel free to ask for help! If booking a flight outside our designated pickup and dropoff times, you may be responsible for your own transportation costs to and/or from the airport.
What is included & not included?
Every trip includes accommodations during the experience, breakfasts daily, welcome reception, English speaking guide, daily transportation, adventure experiences, and YCSMH Happy Ambassador. Please see individual itineraries for exact details. What’s not included? Airfare, travel insurance, tips, incidental expenses, most lunches, alcohol, visas or entry/departure fees required by the destination country.
What about travel insurance?
As on January 1, 2023, all newly booked YCSMH trips will be required to purchase travel medical insurance. If you have already secured a deposit on a YCSMH trip prior to this date, this policy does not apply to you. Comprehensive travel insurance is always highly recommended. Things can happen when you’re traveling that are out of your control and travel insurance can alleviate some of the stress. Considering the unpredictability of nature, remote destinations and conditions encountered on many YCSMH tours.it is required to have travel medical insurance. We strongly encourage you to protect your investment by adding trip cancellation insurance. If you’re spending your hard-earned money to enjoy your holiday, why not spend a bit more to safeguard it? Prior to starting your tour, YCSMH will ask everyone to provide a copy of their insurance details to keep on record. You will be prohibited to travel on your Happy trip, and will not be reimbursed by YCSMH if you fail to provide this information.
What insurance is required?
Travel medical insurance is mandatory. With a wide variety of companies, credit card and travel policies out there, how do you know if your coverage is sufficient for our style of adventure travel? Our minimum insurance policy coverage for medical emergency evacuation and repatriation is USD $200,000 (or equivalent in other currency). If your pre existing coverage does not meet these needs, you will be required to purchase travel medical insurance.
Why should I get cancellation insurance?
Adding cancellation insurance to your medical insurance is optional but always recommended. By having comprehensive coverage you do not need to worry about emergencies that can happen any time, anywhere, before or during your travels. Travel insurance plans typically offer coverage for unforeseen circumstances such as:
– Pre-trip sickness or accidents that prohibit you from traveling
– Unexpected hospitalization
– Medical evacuation
– Death in the family
– Lost luggage, delayed/canceled flight
– Stolen passport
– Lost or damaged gear
Just as with any insurance, be sure to thoroughly review the terms and conditions so you know exactly what you are paying for. We feel it’s best to talk with a live agent to discuss coverage.
How much does it cost?
Medical only insurance is typically between $50-$150 per person, depending on the number of travel days and your age. Full coverage travel insurance is typically priced between $100-$200 per person based on trip price, trip duration, and age.
Are your locations safe?
Precautions should always be taken when traveling abroad, but we wouldn’t bring you anywhere we wouldn’t want to go. Our guides have extensive experience in the countries we visit and are usually locals themselves. That being said, everyone needs to be responsible and conscientious of their own well-being. The U.S. State Department advises to take caution abroad just as you would in any city, especially regarding petty theft.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes! We love sharing our Happy with others. Any friend of yours is a friend of ours. Please specify sleeping arrangements during registration so we know the rooming situation – beds together, apart, separate rooms.
Tipping
We do tip our tour guides and drivers. Your Happy Ambassador will tell you a recommended tipping amount. Our Happy Ambassadors do not accept personal tips. Our goal is to build a community built on friendships and selflessness, not financial transactions.
