Day 2 :

Reindeer Safari and Travel to Kilpisjärvi

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. We will depart this morning to enjoy a Reindeer Safari in the magical location of Camp Tamok; upon arrival we dress in warm winter clothes and boots and then head off to explore the ancient part of Sami culture and try the oldest form of transport in the north. As the reindeer herd is some distance from the main part of the camp, your adventure will start with a short transfer by minibus to our Sami Camp. This fascinating cultural adventure includes reindeer sledding, an introduction to lasso throwing, storytelling about the Sami culture and feeding the reindeer. After this memorable encounter with the indigenous Sami people, you will return to Camp Tamok where we will serve you a hot meal around an open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent.

After lunch, we will depart for Kilpisjärvi. Kilpisjärvi is where the three nations of Norway, Finland, and Sweden meet. Driving time is approximately 2.5 hours. Here we will stay in beautiful chalets in Finnish Lapland. Dinner will be included at the hotel.

Kilpisjärvi hosts some of the best conditions for viewing the northern lights, so make sure to head out at night for a peak. Please keep in mind, seeing the northern lights is dependent on weather and nature conditions. We recommend downloading the Aurora Alert app. It will notify you when the northern lights are active in your location.

It is called the most peaceful border in the world. Take your time to make pictures and mark your presence at the point of intersection of three European borders!

Husky Safari & Travel to Sweden!

Today, we will enjoy a husky safari! Driving a team of huskies over the white, shimmering fells is an experience that is almost mandatory during a trip to Lapland. The eager dogs run at full speed and the sled glides effortlessly over the snowdrifts with the skids hissing softly. The lead dog turns to look at you at a crossroads – right of left? Mush! The husky safari starts in front of an Aurora hut and takes you on a fast-paced trip over the untouched snow of the forests of Levi. This is an experience that you will never forget! After lunch, we will depart for Kiruna to experience Swedish Lapland! The driving time is approximately 4 hours. Once we arrive at Camp Ripan, we will enjoy dinner.

Camp Ripan is home to the Aurora Spa, winner of the “2020 Best Unique Experience” from World Luxury Spa Awards. We recommend enjoying the spa. For guests staying at Camp Ripan, there is a discounted spa entrance fee of 395 SEK/person (approximately $38 USD). The story of Icehotel starts in 1989 when it became the world’s first and largest hotel made of ice and snow. Each year the winter hotel is reincarnated in a new guise, carefully designed and handcrafted by around 40 artists from all around the world. We will get to tour all the amazing rooms and artwork created. Get your cameras ready — because this is amazing!! After our visit of the Ice Hotel ends, we will depart back to Norway.
